Thank you to USA Today for featuring our founder and CEO, Joel Geddis, in "Entrepreneurs to Know in 2026," published October 22, 2026. The piece profiles five founders in technology, hospitality, community development, and family-building, and we're grateful to be in their company.
What matters most to us is what coverage like this does: it puts our mission in front of more people who need it. ReferU.AI is a free platform that matches people with attorneys who have demonstrable success in cases like theirs, drawn from court records rather than advertising. Read the full feature on USA Today.

What the feature says

The article frames 2026 as a year when founders are adopting AI and automation, personalizing customer experiences, and building for long-term impact. Our profile fits that theme, and it starts with a problem every industry shares: more data than people can use.
Software can crunch that data, but what comes out is often murky or incomplete, so there is growing demand for systems that turn raw information into something structured and usable. The profile traces Joel's career around exactly that goal: simplifying complexity in technology and system design.
It covers his leadership roles at AI companies, including his time as Chief of Staff at Allganize, where he focused on business operations and organizational growth. That work deepened an interest in unstructured data and decision-support automation, which led to ReferU.AI.
The piece describes ReferU.AI as legal technology that reads public court records to pair clients with attorneys who have handled relevant cases, spotting patterns in prior outcomes and the lawyers behind them. Matches rest on legal data, the article notes, not on who advertises most. By turning tangled case histories into information people can act on, ReferU.AI offers, in the article's words, "an alternative to traditional attorney discovery methods" for high-stakes decisions.

The mission behind the platform

ReferU.AI began with a close friend whose four-year-old daughter suffered a traumatic injury. Over two years, 140 law firms heard the story and said it wasn't a fit for their practice. Joel bought millions of records from that courthouse, built an AI agent over a weekend to find out who was actually winning similar cases, and it surfaced a young, overlooked trial attorney. One demand letter later, the family had a substantial settlement. Joel told the story in full to Pulse 2.0 this May.
Most people choose an attorney the way they choose a plumber: a friend's referral, a billboard, or whoever answers the phone first. None of that tells you whether the lawyer has handled your kind of case, in your courthouse, in front of your judge, against the firm on the other side.
That information exists. It sits in more than 6 billion court records, and our AI agent, Link, reads them. You describe your situation in plain language. Link surfaces attorneys whose track record matches your case: the same case type, venue, and judge, plus experience against the opposing counsel. It then weighs the practical details, like location, budget, and language, and books the consultation for you.
Link does not rank attorneys. It matches on case similarity. Every licensed attorney is listed, about 1.3 million of them, compared with roughly 400,000 on a typical paid directory. The service is free for the people who use it. As Joel put it to Pulse 2.0: ReferU.AI is "matchmaking, not marketing."
We're also structured for impact. ReferU.AI is a Public Benefit Corporation, and we pledge a portion of profits to the ReferU.AI Foundation, a nonprofit that funds experienced, low- to no-cost legal representation for children in court. In one court observation study of child-welfare hearings, 23% of children had no dedicated attorney. Those are the smallest voices in the system, and they are a large part of why we started. There's more on our About page.

Thank You

Recognition like this belongs to the attorneys who put in the work and deserve to be discovered when people need them the most, and to our team for delivering on our mission of Smarter Results. Better Representation. The Best Outcomes. Thank you again to USA Today and Lyssanoel Frater for including us.
